Customer Reviews
A great watch with a lot of nice features (2010-06-19)
I bought this watch to replace my previous Timex watch (Timex Men's T5H091 1440 Sports Digital Watch), which had a resin band that broke after a couple of years. This watch is awesome. Advantages beyond the metal band:
* An extra button to set numbers down as well as up - makes it easier to set alarm, timer, etc.
* Large numbers on the display, including month and day of the week. It's easy to see all the information at a glance.
* When you reset the timer, it goes back to the last starting time. Other Ironman watches I've had did this, but my previous one stayed at zero, which made using the timer a real hassle.
* Indiglo (and it lights up the numbers indstead of the whole face, which is nifty)
* Doesn't beep every time you hit a button (the last one did, with no way to disable it)
* In AM hours, it shows an "A" instead of a blank. I imagine this will help avoid setting the alarm 12 hours off (which I've done before)
The only disadvantage is that (of course) I had to take it in to Fred Meyer to get the band sized.
Good Running watch (2010-05-29)
I have had this watch for a few months and find it to be excellent quality. I am a runner of 32 years and need a sturdy, water proof, accurate watch. This is my 4th Ironman watch; I have the original one when it first came out. They have all been excellent. I can run, sweat and swim using it with no problems. Highly recommended.
Just what I was looking for (2010-05-09)
I searched for a long time to find a new watch that matched my old Timex for the display characteristics I wanted. The only watches I could find had plastic straps but this model had a steel band. Yes, I could have purchased a steel band but even though the plastic strap models were less expensive, the total cost would be about the same.
This is a great watch. Has every feature I wanted and a few more. I especially like the up/down setting feature without having to go completely around the dial as with most watches. The time display is larger than most and the backlighting is superb. Displaying the second time zone is as simple as pressing the chrono "start/lap" button for less than 2-3 seconds. Longer than that and it locks in the T2 mode which I find very handy for shortwave listening with T2 set at GMT. Just press again to return to local time. Neat.
I had to remove two links from the band but that was an easy task (Hint: use a 1mm drill bit as a pin punch).
I just hope my friends don't notice it is an "Ironman" watch :)
Nice watch. Will do it again next time. (2010-02-01)
Never gave it a thought about needing to adjust the watch band size. I found it easy and will do it again. Very nice watch.
Good Watch with band issue (2009-10-09)
This watch originally had a plastic or resin band that broke frequently, every few months, and the replacement band is stainless. It works fine except for the dim night light feature. The band does not appear to fit as well as it should and thus pops off. The band and watch have a poor fit where the pin inserts to secure the band and watch together. Other than that, it works very well.
Given all the posted complaints with the resin bands and pins failing on the stainless bands you have to wonder why Timex does not care to fix either issue. As much as I like the durability of the timepiece, that band problems make it hard to recommend. You should not have to buy a Rolex to get a watch that remains on your wrist.
